Gavekal offers three research services covering global economies and markets. We have over 800 institutional clients around the world, including financial institutions and asset managers, major corporations, and government agencies. Our analysis aims to be provocative, engaging, and firmly grounded in data. We have no ‘house view,’ but encourage lively debate among our partners and analysts, and are not afraid to air our internal debates to our clients.
A core value at Gavekal is deep engagement with our clients. We present our ideas at about twenty seminars each year, in New York, London, Paris, Hong Kong and other major cities. Email queries from readers are promptly answered. Subscribers to our Advisory level of service enjoy direct access to partners and senior analysts through conference calls and face-to-face meetings.
Gavekal Research is our flagship service, offering daily commentary on global economies and markets. Founded in 1999 by Charles Gave, Louis-Vincent Gave and Anatole Kaletsky, Gavekal Research aims to uncover the dynamics of the global economy and markets, and identify where economic reality and market perception diverge. Subscribers receive The Daily (a 700-word note on the single most important topic of the day) and several longer Ideas pieces each week. In addition, the Strategy Monthly summarizes our key views on the world investment environment.
Gavekal Dragonomics provides in-depth coverage of China’s economy, politics and social issues. Founded in 2002 by Arthur Kroeber and a part of the Gavekal group since 2007, Gavekal Dragonomics combines rigorous analysis of macroeconomic and sectoral data with on-the-ground reporting. The service includes two to three notes each week, periodic chart books exploring major topics at length, and Deep China reports which delve into the ways China is changing the world through its rising technological, financial and geopolitical power
Gavekal Fathom China is Gavekal’s research unit focused on Chinese companies, for institutional investors. Fathom China concentrates mainly on mid-cap companies in which interest is high but information is scarce. The service includes monthly Fathom Profiles (20-25 page reports on Chinese companies listed overseas), Project A (10-page reports issued three times a month on companies listed on China’s domestic stock markets), and the Short Report, a series of short newsy items updating readers on adverse developments at Chinese firms. Fathom China also conducts a syndicated merger research service, as well as custom reports which are available on commission.
